Wizz Air airline announced Thursday (Feb 4) the allocation of two new aircraft to its Tirana base. The new Airbus A320neo will join the fleet, enabling the start of two new routes from Tirana to Friedrichshafen and Rimini. As a result of that investment. The airline will also start operations to and from Kukës International Airport to Vienna, Memmingen/Munich West, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden and Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg.
Speaking at the press conference József Váradi, Chief Executive Officer of Wizz Air, said: “Today brings great news for Albanian travellers and those who wish to visit the country. We are announcing more aircraft in Tirana, more travel opportunities with adding Kukës to Wizz Air’s network, more low fare routes, as well as more jobs, and our support to ramp up tourism in Albania. Our modern aircraft, as well as our enhanced protective measures, will ensure the best possible conditions for travellers while operating the lowest environmental footprint. We look forward to welcoming passengers on board with great service, while we strive to become Europe’s greenest choice for air travel.”

The new Kukës Airport was planned to be a low-cost airport from the beginning when this strategic investment was brought to life. Therefore, Wizz Air starting to fly from Kukës to Austria, Switzerland and two destinations in Germany is very important news for Albanians who want to travel at low cost. I believe that with the precious tradition the company has established in the market, they will be able to offer passengers a pleasurable flying experience, as the modern Wizz Aeroplanes take off from the lands in the north of Albania.
