Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat said on Tuesday that amidst the rising pace of Coronavirus infection in Uttarakhand, this year’s Maha Kumbh 2021 is keeping full vigil and would be grand. Launching 31 development schemes worth Rs 153.73 crore for Mahakumbh-2021 (Haridwar Kumbh 2021) in Haridwar, Chief Minister Rawat said that Mahakumbh happens once in 12 years. Describing Haridwar Kumbh as of historical and mythological importance, the Chief Minister said that it should be grand and divine but at the same time the guidelines of Covid-19 should also be followed. He said that those who had sought a vow for Kumbh Snan 12 years ago, should take holy benefit by bathing the Ganges at the ghats of Haridwar and Rishikesh. The Chief Minister said that every facility of Sadhu Saints and Akharas in Mahakumbh will be taken care of, for which the government is engaged day and night.
According to the health system, 100 teams have been formed for thermal screening, while the number of teams testing COVID-19 has been increased from 40 to 50 and ambulances. The number has also been increased from 32 to 54. A team of 100 doctors and 148 para-medical staff from Uttar Pradesh have reached Haridwar. Tents and toilets will be built and necessary facilities will also be provided to all the great temples.
Earlier, the Uttarakhand government had made the registration of saints coming to participate in the Kumbh compulsory. Devotees will have to undergo their RT-PCR test 72 hours before attending the Kumbh. They will be allowed only when their test is negative.
