As of now, holidaymakers wanting to travel to the sunny destination must produce a negative Covid test, but this could be set to change for tourists very soon.

Spain’s tourism minister Reyes Maroto said the change in policy could be made if UK coronavirus rate stays low.

Accepted tests can be pricey and come at the expense of tourists hoping to travel overseas, However, if this is no longer necessary Britons could find themselves making huge savings.

From May 17, those in England will be allowed to freely travel to 12 countries which are on the ‘green’ list.

The list included locations such as Australia, New Zealand, and Israel, Spain’s neighbors Gibraltar and Portugal also made the list of countries people in England can soon visit, Despite being a popular holiday destination, Spain was not placed on the ‘green’ list.

Instead, it was given an ‘amber’ listing which means Britons face a number of restrictions if traveling to and from Spain, sunseekers are warned against visiting ‘amber’ countries for the foreseeable future, the Government website advises: “You should not travel to amber list countries or territories.”

Those who do visit Spain will be forced to take a Covid test before heading to the UK, and pay for a day two or day eight Covid travel test upon their return, they will also be asked to complete a passenger locator form and quarantine for 10 days.

The rules for travel vary in different parts of the UK.
