Orlando International Airport Resumes Commercial Operations

Triple Digit International Traffic Growth At Orlando International Airport In August

ORLANDO, FL. – In August, international visitation at Orlando International Airport (MCO) increased by 200 per cent over this time last year. Historically, strong international traffic is a good indicator of Central Florida’s overall economic resiliency.

Contributing to the stronger international numbers, there were six international airlines operating in August 2022 which did not operate in August 2021 due to COVID restrictions:

Aer Lingus

Air Transat

Azul

British Airways

GOL

Virgin Atlantic

While international traffic lead the way, domestic traffic also registered significant improvement year over year. Domestic traffic for the rolling 12-month period is now slightly ahead of the domestic passenger count for the calendar year 2019 and is only 1.3 per cent lower than the all-time high, recorded in February 2020.

August 2022 Statistical Data:

International traffic climbed 199.58 per cent in August 2022 as compared to August 2021 with a total of 578,354 passengers arriving and departing Orlando International Airport.

Domestic passenger traffic was up 10.81 per cent with 3,684,405 travellers.

Combined, total traffic was up 21.16 per cent in August with 4,262,759 passengers at MCO.
