CAIRO: The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population has suspended holidays for medical workers in hospitals and health units in an effort to step up its anti-coronavirus awareness program.
An authority informed Egyptian media that the ministry will cease granting or renewing holidays to medical doctors, nursing employees, technicians, administrators, and health sector workers as a part of a plan to confront the second virus wave.
The authority added that the ministry also stops non-compulsory holidays & international travel.
Egypt on Monday evening recorded its highest rate of coronavirus cases and deaths during the second wave, with 718 new cases and 32 deaths.
Hossam Hosni, head of Egypt’s coronavirus committee within the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that Egypt is dealing with three strains of coronavirus, one of which is weak, which means that rumors of harmful new strains of the virus coming into the nation are false.
Hosni stated that Egypt will forbid entry to anybody coming into the nation from overseas until negative tests are returned.
Egyptian media reported that about 30 hospitals have been rehabilitated in Cairo to isolate coronavirus patients.
“We want individuals to abide by the precautionary measures because the virus spreads quicker and a lot of the infected individuals do not show symptoms, and the precautionary measures are a lifeline at this stage,” the authority stated.
