As New Covid Strain in the UK, India suspends UK flights

India-UK flights suspended due to new strains of Coronavirus traced in the UK! India has canceled all flights connecting the UK ranging from December 23. The Ministry of Civil Aviation cited the current scenario within the UK which has compelled the government of that country to impose lockdown-like restrictions and curtailed Christmas 2020 celebrations. India has joined nations like Canada, Colombia, Morocco, Iran, Bulgaria, Sweden, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, France, and Germany which have announced travel restrictions for individuals traveling from the UK.

The temporary suspension on India-UK flights will start from 11.59 pm (Indian Normal Time) on December 22 and can stay in place until 11.59 pm on December 31, 2020. “Considering the prevailing scenario in UK. Govt. of India has determined that each one flight originating from the UK to India to be suspended until 31st December 2020 (23.59 hours).

This suspension to begin w.e.f. 23.59 hours, 22nd December 2020. Consequently, flights from India to the UK shall stand briefly suspended through the above stated period,” the Ministry of Civil Aviation stated in a tweet.

Those that are arriving from the UK must bear a ‘necessary’ Coronavirus check on the airports in India. Passengers, who will likely be discovered coronavirus constructive, have to be quarantined as per tips issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. All medical prices incurred have to be borne by the passengers. “As a measure of considerable precaution, passengers arriving from the UK in all transit flights (flights which have taken off or flights that are reaching India earlier than 22nd Dec at 23.59 hrs) needs to be subject to necessary RT-PCR check on arrival on the airports involved,” the Ministry of Civil Aviation stated.
