The cap on the variety of domestic flights that Indian airlines are permitted to function was elevated from 70 percent to 80 percent of their pre-COVID ranges on Thursday, stated Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
The minister had stated on November 11 that the Indian airways can function as much as 70 percent of their pre-COVID home passenger flights because of the prevailing demand amid the coronavirus state of affairs.
Puri tweeted on Thursday, “Home operations recommenced with 30 k passengers on 25 Might & have now touched an excessive of 2.52 lakhs on 30 Nov 2020.”
“Ministry of Civil Aviation is now permitting home carriers to extend their operations from present 70% to 80% of pre-COVID accepted capability,” he said.
The ministry had resumed scheduled home passenger services from May 25, after a gap of two months because of the coronavirus lockdown.
Nevertheless, the airways had been allowed to function no more than 33 percent of their pre-COVID home flights.
On June 26, this was elevated to 45 percent and on September 2, it was additionally elevated to 60 percent. On November 11, it was elevated to 70 percent.
