SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines (SIA) will resume flights to Dubai, Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, Moscow, and Munich from January, the carrier stated on Friday (Dec 18).
It would also enhance the frequency of its present flights to a number of destinations in the US, Europe, and South Africa, beginning January.
In a Fb post, SIA stated modifications can even be made to flight schedules on its regional wing SilkAir and budget carrier Scoot.
The changes are a part of a “detailed assessment” to find out which airlines within the SIA Group portfolio are “best suited to fulfill evolving customer and cargo demand”, it stated.
Because of the modifications, the Group’s passenger capability is predicted to reach about 25 percent of its pre-COVID-19 ranges by the end of March subsequent yr.
SIA Group has been battered by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, due to border restrictions and lockdowns around the world. The group has implemented across-the-board pay cuts and retrenched thousands of staff.

The group is wanting forward to a “gradual recovery” in passenger operations as countries and areas explore ways to safely reopen borders, with the appropriate protocols in place, it added on Tuesday.
Developments within the production and distribution of vaccines also assist “growing optimism” on the potential recovery of air travel, stated the group.
Earlier this month, SIA stated it could prioritize cargo capacity to transport COVID-19 vaccines after they develop out there.
SOME ROUTES ON SCOOT, SILK AIR SUSPENDED
As a part of the assessment, Scoot’s services to Kuala Lumpur, Manila, and Perth shall be temporarily suspended, whereas SIA and SilkAir will enhance their frequencies on these routes, stated SIA on Friday.
At a similar time, SIA and SilkAir will temporarily suspend services to Penang, Surabaya, and Taipei, whereas Scoot will function to those destinations at higher frequencies.
Flights initially scheduled for December till March however are not listed within the flight schedules shall be canceled and customers shall be informed through SMS and email about the cancellations, SIA stated.
Customers on the canceled flights will retain the full value of the unused portion of their tickets as flight credits, the carrier stated. Bonus flight credits can even be awarded when they rebook their flights.
SIA previously added Brunei, Fukuoka, New York, and Shenzhen to its network, bringing its total to 36 cities, whereas SilkAir added Kathmandu to its list of destinations.
