American Airlines cancels hundreds of weekend flights

First health passport introduced by American Airlines for international travelers flying to the US

American Airlines launched a health passport for all worldwide travelers flying into the U.S, the airline said on Thursday a mobile health passport via its app VeriFLY, to assist help the new government order that each international traveler flying into the U.S. should show proof of a negative COVID-19 test result in order to enter the nation.

International travelers flying with AA can download the app, create an account, enter their vacation spot, and add the required documentation, together with a negative COVID-19 test. American is the first within the nation to roll out a health passport, the airline stated.

“We help the implementation of a worldwide program to require COVID-19 testing for travelers to America, and we need to do every part we will to make travel a seamless experience for customers,” Julie Rath, VP of customer experience at American Airlines, said in a statement.  

Travelers flying with Americans will be capable of accessing their mobile health passports beginning Jan. 23. The airline has already rolled out the app for worldwide travelers flying into Jamaica, Colombia, Chile, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) order, which takes effect Tuesday, Jan. 26, requires passengers, “to get a viral test within three days of their scheduled flight’s journey to the U.S., and supply is written documentation of their laboratory test result to the airline, or show documentation of getting recovered from COVID-19.

Airlines should confirm the negative test result for all passengers or documentation of recovery before they board, If a passenger doesn’t show documentation of a negative test or recovery or chooses to not take a look at it, the airline should deny boarding to the passenger, in accordance with the CDC’s website.Â
