Airlines issue Travel Alert in the USA, as winter storms target Southwest, Midwest

Advisory Issued by Airlines of flight disruptions in Colorado ahead of 'major' snowstorm

USA: Airlines are issuing travel alerts as two storm systems are set to pelt almost half the nation with snow and rain all through the week and into the subsequent week, based on the National Weather Service.

Heavy snow is predicted to start falling in Nebraska and Kansas by late Monday morning. Forecasters anticipate it to then push through the Plains states and northeastward through Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa and Illinois through Tuesday.

Another storm came through Northern California on Sunday evening and is now moving southward. It is forecast to bring at the least a foot of snow to the Sierra Nevada mountains and rainfall to different parts of the state. The snowfall can be forecast to cowl parts of Arizona and Colorado.

Airlines issue waivers and proactively cancel flights so they do not strand passengers and planes. The locations covered, travel dates and different fine print vary by airline and are prone to change with the storms’ projected path and severity.

American, Delta, Southwest, and United have already issued Travel Alerts on Monday and Tuesday for much of the Midwest. They appear to be taking a wait-and-see strategy within the Southwest: so far, none have issued waivers for states south of Kansas.

According to FlightAware, more than 200 flights into, out of, and within America are canceled for Monday, with simply over another 100 canceled for Tuesday.
