The Traditional Menorah was Placed on the Western Wall Plaza

Israel: The traditional Menorah was placed in the Western Wall Plaza in preparation for Chanukah. The candles will be lit on a magnificent menorah- made completely of bronze, reaching more than two meters high and about two meters wide, weighing about one ton. The Chanukah candles will be lit in the tradition of olive oil and in special weather-resistant utensils, allowing the menorah to stay lit throughout the night.

Chanukah candle lighting will take place every evening at 4:30 pm (other than Friday, 23 December, 29 Kislev at 3:30 pm, and Sat night, 24 December, 30 Kislev, at 7:30 pm).

Chanukah is a great time for the general public to take part in special and moving events that take place at the Western Wall Plaza and be part of the festive atmosphere that sheds light all over.  It is also a wonderful opportunity to take a tour by the light of the menorahs in the Old City and tour the new sites of the Western Wall Tunnels.

The events will be broadcast live via the Kotel cameras on the Western Wall Heritage Foundation’s Facebook page and website.
