Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic: The World Travel and Tourism Council ( WTTC ) welcomed the National Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES), as a new member of the body that represents the sector global private tourism industry. The entry of the Association was formalized with the signing of an agreement signed by the president and CEO of the WTTC, Julia Simpson, and the president of ASONAHORES, David Llibre.
During the event, Julia Simpson recognized the role that ASONAHORES plays together with the authorities of the Dominican Republic to strengthen tourism.
He welcomed the WTTC to the Association as the first member of this category in Latin America and the Caribbean, with which it will now be a great ally for the development of travel and tourism at a regional and global level.
Likewise, he highlighted the impact that international tourism has in the Caribbean region and the importance of good global collaboration for the sustainability of the industry.
“The Caribbean is the region of the world that depends the most on international tourism. The region’s economy and future depend on a thriving tourism sector and increased public-private collaboration. Now we can provide Caribbean governments with the comprehensive information they need to build a more sustainable and resilient travel and tourism sector,” Simpson said.
For his part, David Llibre affirmed that the participation of ASONAHORES in favor of the development of the travel and tourism industry in the Dominican Republic, without a doubt, is a determining factor for the growth of the sector.
“With this agreement between both organizations, the WTTC will represent a perfect platform to align efforts, in order to generate impact at the highest level to continue promoting this industry and for our part to be able to continue applying the best practices that strengthen the position of the Dominican Republic. as the main tourist destination in the Caribbean and one of the most important on the continent”, highlighted Llibre.
Julia Simpson’s visit to the country began with a meeting with the Minister of Tourism David Collado, and then she had lunch with members of the ASONAHORES Board of Directors.
