The 38th Haifa International Film Festival will take place from October 8-17, 2022 at the Haifa Cinematheque and other theaters around the city. A popular event with locals as well as visitors and tourists, the festival will include hundreds of movies from around the world, new Israeli films, and television series, with the participation of several international guests.
The opening film of this year’s festival is Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling, a dystopian psychological thriller starring Florence Pugh (The Little Drummer Girl), pop music phenomenon Harry Styles, Chris Pine (Wonder Woman), Gemma Chan (Crazy Rich Asians) and Olivia Wilde herself. The movie is about a 1950s housewife who finds out that the men in the planned community in which she lives are up to something really strange.Â
The festival will close with Shemi Zarhin’s Silent, starring Israeli actors Moris Cohen, Levana Finkelstein and Oshri Cohen. The movie is about a political candidate who refuses to divulge his positions on issues and is working on his relationship with his own mother, who has stopped speaking.Â
