Thai AirAsia X (XJ) Offers Service Recovery Options For Guests With Flights To/From Japan, South Korea, and China

Bangkok – Due to the prolonged travel restrictions and international border closures caused by the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Thai AirAsia X (airline code XJ), a Thailand based low-cost long haul carrier, is offering updated alternate options with more flexibility for guests with flights booked and scheduled for travel from Thailand to Japan, South Korea, and China.

To help minimise the inconvenience, options available for guests are detailed below:

1. Guests with original Thai AirAsia X flight (XJ) scheduled to travel up to 31 March 2022 

Unlimited flight changes: Change to any new travel date from 1 June 2022 onwards (for flights to/from South Korea, and from 5 June 2020 onwards (for flights to/from Japan),  on the same route for an unlimited number of times without any change fee cost,  fare difference may incur a charge (if have), subject to seat availability ; OR 

Credit account: Retain the value of the flight booking in the guest’s AirAsia BIG Member account for future travel with AirAsia to be redeemed within 730 calendar days (2 years) from the issuance date. The travel date of the new booking can fall on any date within the published flight schedule on airasia.com. With this option, guests will have the value of their accounts increased by 10% so that  every 100 THB in the account will be worth 110 THB. Credit accounts are valid for use on any domestic flights operated by Thai AirAsia (FD) immediately, and for booking future flights with Thai AirAsia X as well as other flights across the AirAsia Group, once international services resume. Be noted that guests must submit the request to proceed with this option within 31 March 2022.

2. Guests with the original Thai AirAsia X flight (XJ)  scheduled to travel from 1 – 30 April 2022

Flight change: One time change to any new travel date from 1 June 2022 onwards (for flights to/from South Korea, and from 5 June 2020 onwards (for flights to/from Japan),  on the same route, without any change fee cost and fare difference to be waived, subject to seat availability ; OR 

Credit account: Retain the value of the flight booking in the guest’s AirAsia BIG Member account for future travel with AirAsia to be redeemed within 730 calendar days (2 years) from the issuance date. Credit accounts are valid for use on any domestic flights operated by Thai AirAsia (FD) immediately, and for booking future flights with Thai AirAsia X as well as other flights across the AirAsia Group, once international services resume. The travel date of the new booking can fall on any date within the published flight schedule on airasia.com.

Reroute: Guests with original flights booked and scheduled to travel to Osaka Sapporo, Nagoya, and Fukuoka, are offered one time change to other flights with new destinations operated by Thai AirAsia X (XJ), without any change fee cost,  fare difference may incur a charge (if have), subject to seat availability ; OR 

Refund:  Guests with original flights booked and scheduled to travel to destinations in China may submit the refund option as per CAAC rules. 

3. Guests with an original flight scheduled to travel in and out of Narita (NRT), Japan, from 1 May 2022 to 30 June 2022

Flight change: One time change to any new travel date from 5 June – 30 November 2022,  on the same route, without any change fee cost and fare difference to be waived, subject to seat availability ; OR 

Credit account: Retain the value of the flight booking in the guest’s AirAsia BIG Member account for future travel with AirAsia to be redeemed within 730 calendar days (2 years) from the issuance date. Credit accounts are valid for use on any domestic flights operated by Thai AirAsia (FD) immediately, and for booking future flights with Thai AirAsia X as well as other flights across the AirAsia Group, once international services resume.

4. Guests with an original flight scheduled to travel in and out of Inchon (ICN), South Korea, from 1 May 2022  to 30 May 2022 

Flight change: One time change to any new travel date from 1 June – 30 November 2022,  on the same route, without any change fee cost and fare difference to be waived, subject to seat availability ; OR 

Credit account: Retain the value of the flight booking in the guest’s AirAsia BIG Member account for future travel with AirAsia to be redeemed within 730 calendar days (2 years) from the issuance date. Credit accounts are valid for use on any domestic flights operated by Thai AirAsia (FD) immediately, and for booking future flights with Thai AirAsia X as well as other flights across the AirAsia Group, once international services resume.

Guests can use AVA, on support.airasia.com or airasia.com to make their selection. Guests who wish to receive the option must process their preferred alternate travel plans no less than 48 hours prior to their original scheduled flight date.

The above guest information is only applicable for guests with flights on Thai AirAsia X who booked their flights directly online via airasia.com. For group bookings or those made through travel agents, guests are advised to refer to their respective booking agents for further assistance.
