Delhi Airport T3: Keeping in mind the risk from the coronavirus pandemic, Terminal three on the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi has launched a new passenger tracking system or PTS as per PTI, the PTS would help in better administration of the flow of passengers, while also ensuring social distancing and lowering the waiting time. The terminal has launched a queue management system known as Xovis PTS which displays waiting time at various places like security check and check-in in real-time. This might be displayed on various screens set up across the terminal, the report cited DIAL, the operator of the Delhi airport, as saying.
The aircraft movement is currently being handled only by Terminals 2 and 3 of the Delhi due to lowered flight operations as in comparison with pre-COVID levels.
The report stated that the PTS counts and tracks passengers anonymously with the assistance of sensors mounted on the ceiling. The sensors send data streams to the PTS, giving airport operators vital info like passenger throughput, process time as well as waiting time.
An intuitive dashboard is used for the visualization of this info, which aids the airport operators in shortly identifying areas that are crowded, and bottlenecks.
PTS show screens have been placed within the check-in corridor and arrival pier junction of Terminal 3 amongst different areas.
Earlier than the set up of the PTS, a number of trials have been conducted so that better passenger flow motion, as well as adherence to the norms under COVID-19 protocol together with social distancing, may very well be achieved effectively due to it. As soon as the trials turned out to be successful, only then the PTS was installed, the report added.
