Earlier on June 23, the government announced a further reopening step beginning June 26. As part of this, mask-wearing will no longer be required outside; dance clubs and waterparks can open, and large events of up to 10,000 can take place provided people have a Covid certificate. Since May 31, indoor and outdoor areas of restaurants have been open, and working from home has been downgraded from a requirement to a recommendation.
A forgery-proof Covid-19 certificate was made available on June 7 and is being rolled out across the country to anyone who has been vaccinated, has recovered from, or has recently tested negative for coronavirus.
Also from May 31, people who have been vaccinated or have recovered from Covid-19 are exempt from quarantine and testing requirements when entering Switzerland. However, this doesn’t apply to travellers from countries with virus variants of “significant concern”.
As the vaccination rollout continues across the country, In total, 7 million Covid-19 doses were administered between late December and June 23. Over 32% of the population is fully vaccinated. Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine has been cleared for 12 to 15-year-olds.
