Southwest Airlines on Sunday launched year-round service from Palm Springs, California, to Las Vegas.
There’ll initially be nonstop flights from Palm Springs International Airport to Las Vegas McCarran International Airport on Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays, and Mondays. Every day flights will begin in June.
Palm Springs City Manager Justin Clifton stated the new route is expected to provide economic benefits to the entire region.
“This new nonstop flight from Palm Springs to Las Vegas has been one of the most requested routes over the past decade,” Clifton stated. “The Coachella Valley and our local hospitality and tourism partners will see a great economic benefit with this new service.”
Southwest Airlines began serving the Coachella Valley in November with flights to Denver, Phoenix, and Oakland. It was one of several airlines to announce new or expanded routes to Palm Springs International Airport at the time.
“With our nearly 200 flights to 60 cities nonstop from Las Vegas, this quick hop puts extra individuals from across the nation inside quick reach of all the Coachella Valley has to offer, and helps locals save time in beginning vacations, visits with family and friends, or doing business,” stated Kelly Knox, Southwest Airlines’ community outreach leader for California.
A last-minute ticket for the 12:55 p.m. flight to Las Vegas on Sunday began at $147, according to Southwest’s website. The flight takes approximately 55 minutes.
One-way tickets in June can be booked for as low as $70.
