On August 30, 2022, Somon Air received the first of two Boeing 737-800 aircraft with a cabin configuration of 189 economy class passenger seats. The plane is painted in the well-known Somon Air livery and named after the Hero of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mirzo Tursunzoda.
In the early upcoming month of September, the second Boeing 737-800 is expected to arrive. Both aircraft will be received on operating lease from one of the largest USA-based leasing companies – ACG (Aviation Capital Group). By then, Somon Air will operate a fleet of two Boeing 737-900 and four Boeing 737-800.
“It is with great pleasure that the expansion of our fleet coincides with the celebration of the 31st anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Tajikistan and also the Civil Aviation Day. The new aircraft will help Somon Air with the development of its route network and increase the number of frequencies and destinations for the convenience of our passengers. We thank ACG for their trust and cooperation, and we are also convinced that our professional relationship will be strengthened and has good growth potential,” said Abdulkosim Valiev, Somon Air CEO Deputy.
