Sikkim Tourism made a strong comeback after the lifting of the Covid 19 travel restrictions, the tourism data revealed.
As per tourism department records, as many as 3.08 lakh domestic travellers visited Sikkim between October last year and March 2022, also as foreigners’ footfall is concerned, 6,055 people visited Sikkim during the period.
January was the most profitable month for various stakeholders of the sector with 98,456 visitors, the data said.
The Sikkim recorded almost 16 lakh tourist arrivals in 2019, and the tourism officials expect almost the same growth in visitors number this year too.
Residing in the misty Himalayan ranges, the state of Sikkim has a diversified location along with rich biodiversity, scenic beauty, heritage sites, temples, historical monuments, and some of the best hill stations. The varied worth seeing destinations here make this place one of the highest tourist attracted places in northeastern India. Thus, the economy of this state is highly dependent on tourism.
