Seattle Hosts Microsoft’s First In-person Flagship Event Experience Since Pandemic

Attendees from around the world gathered at the Seattle Convention Center for Microsoft Ignite

SEATTLE – Last week, Microsoft welcomed more than 3,500 attendees in Seattle for their first in-person flagship event experience in the United States since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. Microsoft Ignite, an annual conference for the world’s top IT professionals and developers, took place at the Seattle Convention Center October 12-13.

The in-person Seattle experience marked the evolution of Microsoft Ignite. In Seattle, attendees explored an interactive and immersive event with on-site forums, live product demos and opportunities to collaborate and ideate in person. Beyond Seattle, more than 300,000 people registered to join through the free and accessible digital experience, with thousands of attendees participating in five additional in-person experiences around the world.

Microsoft Ignite was held in the Seattle Convention Center’s Arch building. More than 1,000 attendees travelling from 71 countries also caught a glimpse of the new International Arrivals Facility at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, which features a multi-level, 450,000-square-foot facility complete with an iconic aerial walkway that spans 780 feet across and 85 feet above the existing taxi lane as well as a new, streamlined process for baggage services and customs processing.

“Microsoft is part of our community fabric and we are grateful for their commitment to Seattle as the host city for Microsoft’s first in-person flagship event since the pandemic,” said Kelly Saling, senior vice president and chief sales officer of Visit Seattle. “The Seattle Convention Center rose to the occasion and was filled with energy, reimagined space usage and celebration.”

This year, Seattle is also welcoming a cache of new hotels including citizenM, Astra Hotel and Level Hotel Seattle, along with more than 70 additional hotels located within walking distance of the Seattle Convention Center.
