RT-PCR Test mandatory for Travellers Travelling To India From Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand From January 1, 2023

India lifts 'Air Suvidha' requirement for travelers from China and 5 other nations

New Delhi: India Government Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Thursday (Dec 29) announced that travellers from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand to India will now have to undergo a mandatory RT-PCR test before the flight and have to upload their reports on the Air Suvidha portal before the journey begins.

Starting January 1st 2023, the RT-PCR test made mandatory for travellers arriving from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Thailand. They also have to upload their reports on the Air Suvidha portal before travel. 

The government of India also issued a press release regarding the update,

The United States will now require passengers from China to get a test no more than two days before flying and present proof of the negative test to their airline before flying.

Earlier Japan announced imposing a negative Covid-19 test result requirement upon arrival for travellers from mainland China from December 30, 2023. Travellers who test positive will be required to quarantine for seven days.
