Thailand awards contract for the standard-gauge project

STATE Railway of Thailand (SRT) has awarded a Baht 50.6bn ($US 1.7bn) contract for the Bangkok – Nakhon Ratchasima 1435mm-gauge rail project to a partnership of China Railway Group (CREC) and the China Railway Design Corporation (CRDC).

The contract contains the design and development of 253km of line and the set up {of electrical} and mechanical techniques, in addition to a fleet of EMUs. As well as, the contract covers expertise switch and workers coaching to assist operation and upkeep of the road.
