Qatar recently updated its travel and return policy which is in effect from Sunday (Sept 4). The updated policy is as below:
COVID-19 Country Red Risk Classification is no longer applicable, as per the current policy.
Quarantine is no longer mandatory for all travellers arriving from abroad, however, travellers who test positive for COVID-19 after arriving in Qatar must undergo quarantine measures in accordance with the procedures followed in the State of Qatar.
Travellers must bring a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test certificate with a negative result valid for 48 hours or a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) certificate valid for 24 hours, from the scheduled flight to the State of Qatar. Note that the Rapid antigen self-test is not valid for travel purposes.​
Citizens and residents of the State of Qatar must take a Rapid Antigen (RAT) test within a period of 24 hours upon arrival in the State of Qatar at one of the Primary Health Care Centers or private medical centres, noting that the health status in the Ehteraz application will be updated to become grey in case of non-compliance with the test procedure.
Travellers must download the Ehteraz mobile app and activate it on their mobile phones using a local or international SIM card and register in the pre-entry online registration system through the website (www.ehteraz.gov.qa) within at least three (3) days before arrival.
The Ehteraz mobile application with health status indicated as Green is required to gain access to public facilities around Qatar.
Approved vaccines by the Qatar authorities are – Pfizer / BioNTech (Comirnaty), Moderna (SpikeVax), AstraZeneca (Covishield / Oxford / Vaxzevria), and Jansen / Johnson & Johnson (only one dose) for entry into the country. Do note that Sinopharm, Sinovac, Sputnik V and India-made Covaxin are conditionally approved vaccines.
All foreigners travelling to Qatar from November 1, 2022, will be required to acquire a Hayya Card to enter the country. Also, those who don’t even intend to visit the FIFA World Cup, must also get a Hayya Card during the tournament period.
