Oman, UAE, Saudi Arabia ban travellers from 7 southern African states over COVID variant

CAIRO – Oman has suspended entry to travellers from South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho and Eswatini starting from Nov. 28 over a new variant of COVID-19 discovered in South Africa, the country’s state news agency said in a tweet on Saturday (Nov. 27).

The United Arab Emirates has suspended entry for travellers from South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Mozambique starting from Nov. 29 due to concerns about a new variant of the COVID-19 virus, the state news agency (WAM) reported on Friday (Nov. 26).

Saudi Arabia has suspended flights to and from South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho and Eswatini due to concerns related to the spread of COVID-19, the state news agency (SPA) reported on Friday (Nov. 26).
