Norway tightens travel restrictions for travellers entering from Bulgaria and Germany after including them into the red category list, Also lift quarantine requirements for travellers arriving from Spain, Monaco, and Andorra.

The purpose of the restrictions is to reduce the risk of imported cases of COVID-19. All of the changes will enter into effect on Monday 30 August at 12 am.

Also, as the Press Release issued, Travel restrictions and the quarantine requirement for the Åland Islands in Finland are being lifted.

The following countries and regions will remain green:
Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic.

The following countries will remain Orange:

Italy, San Marino, Vatican City, Croatia, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Austria, Latvia, Malta and the Netherlands.

Swedish regions of Norrbotten, Södermanland, Uppsala, Blekinge, Dalarna, Västernorrland, and Kronoberg

Danish regions of Zealand and Southern Denmark.

Finish regions of Kymmenedalens, Kajanalands, Central Finland, Södra Savolax, Central Hämeenlinna, Satakunda, Norra Karelens, Norra Österbottens, Norra Savolax, Päijat-Häme, Vasa Mottens and Syd-Öster, Östra Savolax, Lapland, Birkalands and Södra Karelens

The following countries will remain Red:

Portugal, Ireland, Iceland, Greece, France, Estonia, Belgium, Lithuania, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Bulgaria, and Germany

Swedish regions of Gotland, Halland, Stockholm, Värmland, Västerbotten, Västmanland, Örebro, Västra Götaland, Skåne, Jämtland, Gävleborg, Jönkjöping, Kalmar and Östergötland

Danish regions of the capital (including Copenhagen), Central Jutland and North Jutland

Finnish regions of Helsinki, Uusimaa and Southwest Finland

The Azores (Portugal), the Canary Islands (Spain), the Northern Aegean Islands (Greece), Sardinia (Italy), Sicily (Italy), and Madeira (Portugal)

The following countries will remain in Dark Red:

Cyprus, the UK, Corsica (France), Crete (Greece), the Southern Aegean Islands (Greece), and the Ionian Islands (Greece)

These countries and areas will remain purple:

Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and Taiwan.


Travellers arriving from red and dark red countries and regions have to show a negative test result taken before arrival, complete the entry registration form, test upon arrival and undergo the entry quarantine. For dark red countries, self-isolation has to be completed in quarantine hotels.

People arriving from green countries and regions must also go into quarantine if they have visited or transited through an orange/red/grey/purple country or region during the past 10 days. However, if you are arriving from a green country/region having travelled via an orange/red country/region without using public transport, without staying overnight there and without having had close contact with anyone other than members of your own household, you do not need to go into quarantine after arriving in Norway.

Fully vaccinated people and those who have had COVID-19 during the past six months are exempt from entry quarantine. Protected people who received their first vaccine dose between three and 15 weeks ago and children under 18 must go into entry quarantine, but may end their quarantine if they test negative no earlier than three days after arrival. 

There are exemptions for a few areas and countries on the EU’s list of third countries, known as purple countries. The travel advice for the rest of the world will apply until 1 October 2021.
