Turkey lifts all Covid-19 travel restrictions for Indian travellers

Turkish and Azerbaijani residents will start passport-free travel between the nations from April 1 following a signing of a protocol between Ankara and Baku, the Turkish foreign affairs ministry said on Monday.

The protocol allows nationals from each nation to “ travel without needing their passports and only by presenting their new generation id cards,” the ministry mentioned in a written statement.

The new regulation will“strengthen our already existing strong ties with Azerbaijan as expressed within the motto “one nation, two states,” it added.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Azeri counterpart Ilham Aliyev signed the protocol during Erdoğan’s two-day visit to Baku on Dec. 10.
