Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland stop entry to Russian tourists through external borders

The Lithuanian government announced on Friday to reinstate restrictions on non-essential travel between municipalities that would remain in place till April 6.

The movement restrictions will be in place from Saturday, March 27, till April 6.

“The approaching holiday period may lead to an increasing number of individuals moving between municipalities, which enhances the risks of contacts,” Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys stated during the meeting of the government.

Similar to previous rules, the movement would be allowed between the so-called ‘inner-ring municipalities and large cities for work and other purposes, for example, between Vilnius City and Vilnius District.

Exceptions to the ban include traveling, for work, for international travel (to reach an airport or a station), getting healthcare, attending the funeral

Lockdown has been prolonged till April 30. It includes restrictions on events, catering businesses, and education institutions. While retailers with street access have been allowed to reopen, they need to manage customer flows.

Physical personal contacts outside one’s household are also restricted under the lockdown. Two households are allowed to spend time together, but only outdoors. Two households are also allowed to form permanent ‘social bubbles’ if one of them contains no more than one adult.

Lithuania rolled out movement restrictions in mid-December. Since March 16, they have only been in effect in 16 municipalities with the worst epidemiological rates.
