Kathmandu, Nepal – All 72 people onboard – four crew members and 68 passengers – died on Sunday (Jan 15) after an ATR-72 plane of yeti airlines crashed near central Nepal’s Pokhara.
The flight was en route from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The plane took off from Tribhuvan International Airport at 10:33 am today. It reportedly crashed ten seconds before landing at the airport and everyone onboard is reported to be dead.
The aircraft crashed into forested land located on the banks of the Seti Gandaki river that flows between the old domestic airport and Pokhra International Airport.
The country’s civil aviation authority reported that 53 of the passengers and all four crew members were Nepali. Fifteen foreign nationals were on the plane as well: five were Indian, four were Russian and two were Korean. The rest were individual citizens of Australia, Argentina, France, and Ireland.
