Mussoorie got its name from its famous plant “Mansoor” which was present there in large quantities. The hill station was established in 1825 when a shooting lodge was made by British Military Officer, Captain Young and Superintendent of Revenues at Dehradun, Mr Shore.
As soon as you reach there, you’ll be astounded by the scenic and mesmerizing views of the Shivalik range which can be found from every corner and nook of this hilltop town. There are many religious spots, landmarks, theme parks, lakes and waterfalls and nature spots to witness in Mussoorie. It is a place where travellers can spend their leisure time while exploring the hidden gems, most happening places, picnic spots and things to do.
Kempty fall: The most visited place by a tourist in Mussoorie is this. It is located 15 km from the town. The falling perpetual waterfalls stream down from an elevation of about 12 meters.
Mall Road: Mall Road runs completely over the town and offers pleasing views of lush hills and gorges on almost every corner and curve. There is no doubt that it is the throbbing road of the town that bounces its life.
Gun Hill: It is a spectacular hill which is the most famous attraction in Mussoorie. Here, take a cable car ropeway to enjoy the bird’s eye view of the Himalayas.
Other places like Mussoorie Lake, Jharipani Fall, LalTibba, Jwala Devi Temple, Devalsari, Benog Wildlife Sanctuary, Clouds End and more are must visit.
Best time to visit:
The best time to explore the hill station Mussoorie is from April to June during summer, as it proposes an excellent break from the sweltering summer heat and the pleasant climate. But, those who are searching for some snow-capped mountains, should visit Mussoorie during winters. And July to September usually witnesses heavy rainfall as it’s a monsoon season.
