MTR Provides Free Travel for Passengers on 19 December 2021

To support the Government’s arrangements for the 2021 Legislative Council General Election Polling Day, MTR Corporation will provide free rides on the MTR (except Airport Express), Light Rail and MTR Bus for passengers on 19 December 2021. Passengers do not need to tap their Octopus or pay any fare when they enter or exit MTR stations, Light Rail stops or board MTR Bus on 19 December. Passengers will have to note that since fares will not be charged for MTR trips on that day, the interchange discount for MTR and designated routes of Green Minibus, as well as Kaito Ferry and the MTR Park & Ride Scheme, will not be applicable on that day.

In view of an anticipated increase in patronage brought by the free ride arrangement, there may be more passengers than usual at MTR stations and on trains. MTR will closely monitor train service on that day and implement appropriate operational measures to meet passenger demand. There will also be additional staff assisting passengers at stations.

We appeal to passengers to remain courteous during their MTR travel, pay attention to signage at stations and allow sufficient time for their journeys.
