New York: On Friday (Aug 5) according to FlightAware, more than 1,400 flights had been cancelled and more than 8,000 were reported delayed in the U.S. due to thunderstorms.
As per reports, American Airlines cancelled more than 270 of its flights. Republic Airlines, a regional carrier that operates under the American Eagle, Delta Connection, and United Express brands, in addition to operating some of its own flights, also had more than 260 cancellations. Southwest airlines cancelled more than 200 of its flight.
On Thursday (Aug 4), airlines cancelled 1,248 flights nationwide. Airlines have been struggling with flight cancellations and delays this summer as they face staffing shortages, severe weather and air traffic control delays.
