During the month under review, a total of 144,631 inbound tourists visited Malta for holiday purposes, and 23,615 tourists came for business purposes. The largest share of inbound tourists was aged between 25 and 44 (40.7 percent), followed by the 45-64 age bracket (35.4 percent). In the United Kingdom, Italian and French residents made up 42.4 percent of total inbound tourists.
Total nights spent went up by 36.3 percent when compared to November 2021, surpassing 1.2 million nights. The largest share of guest nights (81.1 percent) was spent in rented accommodation establishments. The average length of stay of total inbound tourists stood at 6.9 nights.
Total tourist expenditure surpassed €144.1 million, an increase of 55.8 percent over the corresponding month in 2021. The average expenditure per night was estimated at €119.7.
January-November 2022
Inbound tourists during the first eleven months of 2022 amounted to 2,150,174, while the total nights spent surpassed 15.6 million nights.
Total tourist expenditure was estimated at €1.9 billion. Total expenditure per capita decreased to €889 from €914 in 2021.
