JOHOR BAHRU: Malaysia’s Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced on Tuesday (Mar 8) that the country’s borders will be reopened from April 1 and allow entry without quarantine for vaccinated travellers.
Last week Mr Yaakob hinted to reopen borders soon to allow more Malaysians to spend time with their family members during Hari Raya Aidilfitri in May.
The reopening follows similar steps taken by neighbours Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia, with quarantine waived for vaccinated travellers with negative COVID-19 tests before departure and after arrival.
This move will revive the country’s economy, especially the tourism industry that has been heavily affected by the pandemic, Mr Yaakob said.
