Malaysia recently announced Visa on Arrival (VOA) for Indian travellers arriving in the country through Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, or Brunei, with a valid visa from either country. This new rule will come into effect from June 1, 2022.
Elaborating more on this, the Immigration Department of Malaysia (Mumbai Attaché), the VOA fee will be MYR 200 (USD 46), and travellers will be required to show proof that they have at least USD 500 cash/debit card/credit card/traveller’s cheque or any electronic money, which is certified by the Central Bank of Malaysia (Bank Negara Malaysia). Travellers will be able to stay up to 15 days with a confirmed return air ticket.
In case of need to apply for a eVISA, travellers can now apply for the same online. As per the reports, more than 18000 seats between India and Malaysia through Malaysia Airlines, IndiGo, Malindo Air, AirAsia, and Air India Express are offered weekly.
It’s being speculated that relaxing COVID related restrictions and VOA will further make travel to the country hassle-free for Indians, allowing Malaysia to likely witness growth in tourism activity in the coming days.
