Madagascar is welcoming back US travellers

Madagascar reopens boundaries for U.S. citizens beginning Saturday, Oct. 23. 

As of 6 November 2021, Madagascar’s borders will be partly reopened for flights from Europe to Antananarivo via Air Madagascar and Air France.

Charter flights from Milan/Rome to Nosy Be are also authorised.

Regional flights between Madagascar and neighbouring Indian Ocean islands – Mauritius (via Air Mauritius) and Reunion Island (via Air Austral) also resumed from 23 October 2021.

Private jet flights to Madagascar will have to have special authorisation from the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister.

The health measures for international travellers arriving in Madagascar are as follows:

Mandatory PCR test (25 euros) included in the air fare

Quarantine for one (01) to two (02) days pending test results

If the test is negative, the traveller is free to move around. In the event of a positive result, they will be quarantined for another 14 days.

Flights entering Madagascar will be limited to a rate of one (01) flight every 5 hours as recommended by the ICAO.

According to an Oct. 15 press release from the Madagascar National Tourism Board. If the test comes back positive, the quarantine will be extended another 14 days.
