Los Angeles: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has welcomed more than 54 million travelers this year through October, while year-over-year international passenger traffic nearly doubled as travel demand continues to grow into the fall.
The airport reported a total of 5,877,180 passengers in October, up from 4,848,035 in the same month last year. The increase of more than 21% is largely due to international travelers, which totaled 1,503,908 – nearly double the 765,618 international travelers reported in October 2021.
“The fall travel season already is taking off at the highest levels since 2019, and LAX is ready to welcome even more passengers into the winter holidays,” said Justin Erbacci, Chief Executive Officer, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA). “The combination of new facilities, new technology and new airlines are adding up to an improved airport journey from the curb to the gate, and we are excited to show off more of our modernization in the months ahead.”
For the year through October, overall passenger traffic at LAX is up 44.04% compared with the same time in 2021 with a total of 54,569,493 passengers. The number of international guests during that time is up 122.97% compared to 2021 (13,454,406 vs. 6,034,196), while domestic passengers are up 29.09% (41,115,087 vs. 31,850,322) so far this year.
