Japan is likely to scrape the daily foreign arrival cap by next month

Singapore and Japan Signed Arrangement to Collaborate on Civil Aviation

Japan: Japan is likely to end its daily limit on arrivals from overseas by October and simultaneously relax other restrictions, including a visa requirement and the requirement to travel on a package tour, as per the media reports.

Japan Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Seiji Kihara said during a Fuji Television program, “The government will considering to relax other restrictions, including a visa requirement and the requirement to travel on a package tour, when it completely lifts the daily cap on overseas arrivals.”

He added, “We will review (the restrictions) altogether. We have to carry it out in the not-so-distant future.”

The country’s strict COVID-19 border controls have been in place for more than two years and have gradually been eased. Just recently, the daily entry cap was raised to 50,000 from 20,000 and inbound tourists were allowed to travel on tours without a guide.
