Tokyo, Japan: Japan to allow tourists on package tours without a guide from next week, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said on Wednesday (Aug 30).

Japan will also raise its daily traveller’s arrival cap from 20,000 to 50,000 from Wednesday (Sept 7), Kishida mentioned.

Since June 2022, Japan allowing foreign tourists to enter the nation but only on a guided tour. The government has not yet come up with details of what constitutes a package tour, but guidelines will be released in the coming days, a government official said.
