According to the latest figures, the infrastructure owned by Russian Railways carried 92 million passengers in October 2021, 12.2% more than in the same month last year.
The number of suburban passengers increased by 11.1% to 84.9 million, while long-distance passengers were up 27.2% to 7.1 million.
Passenger turnover in October 2021 amounted to 7.7 billion passenger kilometres, 18.6% more than in the same month in 2020.
Suburban passenger turnover rose 15.6% to 2.7 billion pass-km, while long-distance passenger turnover was up 20.3% and amounted to 5 billion pass-km.
In total, 876 million passengers were transported between January and October 2021, an increase of 20.4% compared to the same ten-month period in 2020.
Long-distance passenger numbers increased 36.8% to 79.5 million, while suburban passengers amounted to 796.5 million, a rise of 18.9%.
Passenger turnover on the Russian Railways network since the beginning of 2021 increased by 32.9% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 89.7 billion pass-km. Suburban passenger numbers rose to 24.5 billion pass-km, an increase of 17.1%, while long-distance passengers jumped 40% to 65.2 billion pass-km.
