India, Gujarat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched projects worth Rs 1,100 crore in Gujarat via video conferencing.
The PM virtually inaugurates a newly-built five-star hotel atop the redeveloped Gandhinagar railway station.
The redevelopment of the existing railway station in Gandhinagar and construction of the five-star hotel on top of the station began in January 2017.
The new-look station, as well as the hotel, will be inaugurated by the PM through a video conference, the luxury hotel has 318 rooms and is spread across 7,400 square meters. It has been built at a cost of Rs 790 crore.
The hotel is 250 feet high and has been developed as an SPV (special purpose vehicle) set up by the Gujarat government and the Ministry of Railway.
The Ministry of Railways and the Gandhinagar Railway and Urban Development Corporation (GARUD) have jointly developed a five-star luxury hotel atop the Gandhinagar railway station.
Officials involved in the project said the hotel would host national and international visitors who would come to attend seminars and conferences at Mahatma Mandir, a convention centre situated just opposite the high-end property.
Later, PM inaugurates three new attractions at the Science City in Ahmedabad. These attractions are – an aquatic gallery, a robotic gallery and a nature park.
During the virtual event, PM Modi also flags off Gandhinagar-Varanasi weekly superfast train and Gandhinagar-Varetha MEMU train.
He also dedicates the newly electrified Mehsana-Varetha broad gauge rail line, which passes through Vadnagar (PM’s hometown), and a 266km stretch between Surendranagar and Pipavav station.
