India lifts 'Air Suvidha' requirement for travelers from China and 5 other nations

New Delhi, India: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of India announced the dropping of the existing requirements of pre-departure COVID-19 testing and uploading of Self-Health Declaration on the Ministry of  Civil Aviation’s ‘Air Suvidha’ portal applicable for international travelers coming from/via China. Singapore, Hong Kong, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, and Japan.

The updated guidelines will come into effect from 11:00 am on Monday, February 13, 2023.

However, the current exercise of random covid testing of 2% of travelers to India (irrespective of Country of origin) upon arrival in India shall continue to monitor infections due to mutated variants of SARS-CoV-2 among international travelers.

Earlier, On 30.12.2022 DGCA issued guidelines for international flight operations/arrivals based on the increasing trajectory of COVID-19 and circulation of mutant variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in some Countries. The guidelines had mandated requirements of pre-departure COVID-19 testing for all passengers on international flights from China, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, and Japan and uploading of Self-Health Declarationon Ministry of CivilAviation’s ‘Air Suvidha’ Portal traveling from these countries.
