New Delhi, INDIA: The Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced on Thursday (December 09) to further extend the ban on international flights till January 31, 2022. DGCA in a circular mentioned the Extension of the ban on Scheduled International Commercial Passenger Service to/from India till 11:59 pm on January 31, 2022.
A circular issued by the civil aviation regulator read: “In partial modification of circular dated 26-11-2021, the competent authority has decided to extend the suspension of scheduled international commercial passenger services to/from India till 2359 hrs IST of January 31, 2022. This restriction shall not apply to international all-cargo operations and flights specifically approved by DGCA.”
All cargo flights, flights under the bilateral air bubble pacts with select countries will continue to operate, civil aviation said.
“International scheduled flights may be allowed on selected routes by the competent authority on a case-to-case basis,” said the DGCA circular.
India has air bubble arrangements with nearly 28 nations, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates, among others.
Scheduled international passenger services have been suspended in India since 23 March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
