Icelandair returns to Helsinki-Vantaa, Route to Reykjavik reopened

Icelandair will reopen the popular Helsinki-Reykjavik route when direct flights from Helsinki to Reykjavik start on Saturday 2.4. Passengers departing from Helsinki will once again be able to travel on Icelandair’s direct flights to Iceland, and at the same time, they will have a new, diverse range of routes to North America with a single change via Reykjavik.

Icelandair’s direct flights between Helsinki and Reykjavik have been suspended from the company’s route selection since 27 September 2021 due to the corona pandemic. The route will now be reopened once air travel has begun to recover and Iceland has lifted all entry restrictions by the end of February. Icelandair flies from Helsinki to Keflavik International Airport up to seven times a week.

“We have been waiting for this moment to be able to fly direct flights from Helsinki to Reykjavik again and offer our customers a popular connection from Helsinki. Iceland is the ideal place to visit at the moment – safe, clean and healthy. Iceland has a small population and beautiful nature and wilderness”, says Christian Häggström, Icelandair’s Marketing Manager for Finland and Sweden.

The capital of Iceland, Reykjavik, is known for its vibrant restaurant and cultural offerings. The country itself, on the other hand, offers breathtaking nature and scenery. Iceland’s location between Europe and North America is also excellent for travellers across the Atlantic.

“Now passengers departing from Finland have a new opportunity to travel to many North American destinations via Reykjavik. A trip to North America can also be combined with a so-called 1-7 night stay. stopover in Iceland. The stop has no effect on the price of the flight ticket. This will allow travellers to explore Iceland’s creative culture and unique nature on their way to North America”, Christian Häggström continues.

Icelandair’s destinations in North America are Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Minneapolis-St Paul, Montreal, New York JFK and EWR, Orlando, Portland, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver, and Washington DC. Raleigh-Durham has been added as a new destination for 2022.
