Hong Kong drops on-arrival PCR tests for inbound travelers

Hong Kong to drop the mandatory hotel quarantine policy for inbound travellers from Sep 26

Hong Kong: Hong Kong SAR Government’s finally decided to remove the mandatory hotel quarantine policy for inbound travellers from 26 September 2022.

Now from Monday (Sep 26), inbound travellers will go through a new 0+3 policy, which will allow travellers to return home or stay in a hotel of their choice to undergo three days of medical surveillance. During those three days, they are allowed to go out as long as they comply with RT-PCR test requirements.

However, a PCR test must be conducted at the airport on arrival, but there will be no need to wait for the result before they can either return home or go to a hotel. Travellers entering the city can choose any form of public transport when leaving the airport.

The Government also announced the removal of the daily quota for travellers coming to Hong Kong, while unvaccinated Hong Kong residents can also onboard flights to return to the city.
