Germany to ease COVID entry restrictions from June 1

Germany to abolish the proof of vaccination, recovery or test requirement for three months from the beginning of next month.

Health Minister Karl Lauterbach told the Funke newspaper group in comments published Wednesday that the rule, which applies to everyone age 12 and above regardless of where they are travelling from, will be suspended from June 1 to the end of August.

Pandemic restrictions for people entering Germany will be almost entirely dropped from the beginning of June, the health minister said Wednesday.

The relaxation of the rules will remain in place until the end of August.

Germany also recognised the WHO-listed Bharat Biotech’s COVID vaccine Covaxin, for travel to the country starting June 1.

German Ambassador to India, Walter J Lindner, on Thursday (May 26) took to Twitter and said, “Very happy that GER government just decided to recognize WHO-listed Covaxin for travels to GER, starting June 1! This Embassy has been pushing very actively for such decision (because of Covid-backlogs visa sections have longer waiting periods than normal, please have patience).”
