Berlin: Germany toughens travel rules on Friday (Aug 13) amid concerns over the recent surge of delta variant infections, ordering five days home quarantine for unvaccinated travellers from the US, Turkey, and Israel.
Starting Sunday (Aug 15), unvaccinated travellers or recently recovered from COVID-19 from the US and Israel will be required to quarantine following their entry into Germany.
For travellers from Turkey, new rules for travel will go into effect Tuesday (Aug 17).
Fully vaccinated or recovered travellers with valid proof will be exempted from the mandatory quarantine, they only need to complete a digital entry registration.
Unvaccinated travellers will be required to self-isolate at home for five days, and the quarantine requirement will end if they test negative on the fifth day. Otherwise, the mandatory quarantine will continue for five more days.
