AI Express flight makes emergency landing at Thiruvananthapuram airport

Fully vaccinated travellers from UAE-India are exempted from the Covid PCR test

New Delhi: Travellers from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are now exempted from the pre-departure RT-PCR test if they are fully vaccinated (received both doses) against Covid-19 vaccines in India, Air India Express said in a statement on Saturday (Feb 19).

The new guidelines are applicable to only those passengers who are travelling from the UAE and have completed the primary course of vaccination in India. The UAE was not on India’s list of countries exempted from pre-departure Covid-19 testing.

Essentially, this relaxation benefits visitors from India to the UAE on their return trip.

Passengers should upload their Covid-19 vaccination certificate issued in India on the Air Suvidha portal prior to their departure flight.

All other passengers who have not received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine must carry a negative RT-PCR report not older than 72 hours and also upload it on the Air Suvidha portal Air India, Air India specified.

The new relaxation follows the scrapping of the seven-day mandatory home quarantine for passengers landing in India from abroad.
