Easier travel rules and other benefits for individuals vaccinated against Covid-19 will encourage more of them to get the shots, Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė expects.
The prime minister expects that those “who hesitate or think that the risk of getting infected is low for them” will opt to take the jab to avoid regular testing and “have a doc that would make them feel freer in the world”.
On May 24, Lithuania is planning to roll out the so-called opportunity passport (galimybių pass) for individuals who have been vaccinated against Covid-19, have already had the virus, or have a negative test outcome. EU-wide digital inexperienced certificates could be approved in June, at the start of the summer vacation season.
As of Wednesday, there were 806,903 individuals in Lithuania who had been given at least one vaccine shot, or around 29 % of the population.
