First Austrian Airlines A320neo landed in Vienna

Austrian Airlines will once again be connecting Vienna and Shanghai twice a week

An Austrian transfer team picked up the first Airbus A320neo with the registration OE-LZN from the Airbus plant and took it to the new home country on a transfer flight. The machine took off from Toulouse on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, with flight number OS1472 at 4:12 p.m. and landed at Vienna Airport at 6:22 p.m. local time. The youngest member of the fleet was handed over to Austrian Technik after landing. The first commercial flight with passengers is scheduled for mid-October.

Three more A320neos are to be deployed by spring 2023

Austrian Airlines will integrate a total of four A320neos into its existing fleet by spring 2023. The aircraft of the type “NEO” (“New Engine Option”), which come from a Lufthansa order and are being delivered to Austrian Airlines, are mainly used in continental traffic. “Due to modern engine technology and improved aerodynamics, the aircraft type is characterized by more efficient fuel consumption and lower noise emissions compared to the previous model. We are thus taking an important step on the way to more climate-friendly air traffic and equipping our fleet for the future,” says Austrian Airlines COO Francesco Sciortino. The second Neo is expected to be delivered to Austria in October 2022.

The new aircraft is not only more fuel-efficient, quieter and more cost-effective, but they also increase travel comfort for passengers on short and medium-haul routes. Thanks to the innovative Airspace Cabin, passengers benefit from more personal space, and there is also up to 60 per cent more capacity for hand luggage. In addition, a new lighting concept ensures well-being on board.
