Finland witnessed an increase in Nights spent by foreign tourists in November compared to the previous year

Finland: According to Statistics Finland’s preliminary data, the number of nights spent by tourists at accommodation establishments was seven percent higher in November 2022 than one year earlier. In total, 1.12 million overnight stays were recorded for resident tourists, which is on a level with November 2021. For non-resident tourists, 0.37 million overnight stays were recorded, which is one-fifth less than in November 2019, but nearly one-third more than in 2021.

The number of overnight stays by non-resident tourists was highest in Uusimaa and Lapland. The number of overnight stays by foreign tourists was one quarter higher in Uusimaa and one half higher in Lapland than twelve months earlier.

The highest numbers of foreign visitors came from Germany, Great Britain and Sweden.

The occupancy rate of hotel rooms was 52 per cent. Compared to November 2021, the occupancy rate grew by three percentage points.

The average price of a hotel room was EUR 120, having been EUR 107 one year earlier. The price of a hotel room was highest in Lapland, EUR 153.
